You will be pleased to know that at Balance Chiropractic,we do not jump right into treatment. We allow 45 minutes for your first appointment. During this time we will listen to your concerns and ask questions to get a complete picture of your health, your experience and understanding of chiropractic and your goals.

The patient history and examination are essential tools in the health care process. Eighty percent of diagnosis are first found through the history. Therefore, I ask many questions about your past and present, gathering information related to a current problem or your general health.

In the exam, we become more focused using range of motion, neurological and orthopedic test to determine the cause of any problem you may be having and evaluate if chiropractic care is right for you. I will  ask you to take off your shoes so I can evaluate your posture. In  order to feel your spine or any area that may be bothering you, it is best to wear thin loose fitting clothes.

Because joint motion is tested manually, X-rays are rarely taken in my office unless there has been a trauma, such as a fall or auto accident. X-rays may also be used to see suspected areas of arthritis or to rule out pathology such as cancer or bone infection.

Through the above process, the most appropriate treatment approach will be determined specifically for you.  Dr. Smith has many ways to treat each area of the body. Every procedure will be explained before it is done so if you are apprehensive about a particular technique, a different one can be used.

At our next appointment you will receive a report of findings. Based on that and your response to your first treatment, a plan will be presented to fit your specific needs and goals
