Nerve Mobilization has proven to be a huge asset for the clients of Balance Chiropractic. By addressing the nerve tissue directly, nerve mobilization adds a means of accessing the nervous system that is simply not used by any other chiropractor in the area.
The concept is very simple. Nerve do not like pressure or tension. While chiropractic and cranial therapies relieve pressure and irritation caused by structures surrounding the central nervous system, nerve mobilization goes to the nerves themselves as they travel through the body. If a nerve is "entrapped" as it passes by a joint, through a muscle or between muscles it will be stretched whenever you move. This causes the nerve to become hypersensitive and can become a source of chronic pain. Over time compression to the nerve may cause numbness or weakness. Constant irritation in a peripheral nerve can also cause the central nervous system to become irritated thus causing problems in other areas of the body. If a nerve that is under tension crosses a joint, it can even limit the movement of that joint. Nerve mobilization returns the nerves natural glide through the other tissues and helps reduce inflammation within the nerve itself. This eliminates irritation and allows proper blood flow to and within the nerves. A very refined sense of touch and an in depth knowledge of the nerves is required to perform this technique. Nerve mobilization is especially useful for clients with: - Pain, numbness or tingling in the arms, hands, legs or feet
- Dull or stabbing pain around the shoulder blades
- Dull hip pain
- Stiff feet, hammer toes
- Plantar fasciitis
